Lessons Learned in 2013

As the sun sets on 2013 it’s time to look back on the year and reflect on the lessons learned. This was our first full year as homeowners and we had a huge learning curve ahead of us.  The year brought some surprises as they usually do but nothing that we could not handle. Looking back I can see when some things started to become clear and were we had some lessons learned.       Lessons Learned in Personal Finance Our first lesson learned was that we really needed to restructure our budget and track our spending.  We started … Continue reading

My Sweet Brownie Memories

Today’s post is from my husband, Richie, who recently caught the blogging bug and has decided to contribute to the family blog.  Recently, I went shopping for food at the local supermarket and bought some brownies from the bakery.  It had been years since I had enjoyed a brownie and I was looking forward to having one. Of course, I didn’t want to pay top dollar for my tree so he suggested I buy one in the after Christmas Sales.  He kept … Continue reading

Water Heater Drama…Again!

Happy December everyone! Hope you all had a nice Thanksgiving.  Mine went well as I decided to host for the very first time. In the end, I cooked my own turkey and survived.  Yay!  However, a week before Thanksgiving I was dealing with some serious water heater drama. Ughhh! As I mentioned in a previous post, my home water heater died back in May and we replaced it with a brand spanking new one.  Well you can imagine how surprised I was to see that it had started to rust only after 5 months!  I had called a family member to … Continue reading
